The last jungles of the Mexican Chiapas are also home to the last Lacandon Mayans. They once settled between the stunning lagoons and waterfalls in the Lacandon jungle. Throughout the Colonial era, they remained in the jungle, protected and undiscovered so that the Lacandon Mayans were able to continue to live out the traditions of their ancestors in peace. During my visit, I was able to dive into the magic, customs and life of the Mayans and listen in to a story or two told by my Lacandonian friends.
